How Secular Science Provided Powerful Evidence for the Personal God of the Bible.

Many believe there is deep conflict between science and the Bible, but this is not true. We live in a time when there is deep concord (and superficial conflict) between science and the Bible, but deep discord between science, naturalism, and most world religions. For 2000 years Christianity produced some of the best minds in history to address the relationship between the Bible and science. However, we tend to forget this history and lose perspective. This presentation will review the history of perceived conflict between science and the Bible from the 1st century A.D. to the present using three examples. 1) Heliocentrism is an example of how Christians revised their interpretation of scripture in light of new science. 2) Creation ex nihilo (out of nothing) shows how Christians maintained a biblical view of creation out of nothing when it conflicted with science and, in time, were shown to be correct. 3) The exquisite fine tuning of the universe to permit life; life appears to be a miracle. Modern cosmology implies that the universe (space, matter, and time) had a beginning out of nothing as the Bible teaches (and contrary to most world religions) and is exquisitely fine-tuned for life to exist. This implies the cause of the universe a personal, transcendent creator who wants to have a relationship with his creatures.
